Can you keep a gratitude journal out loud?
Gratitude is often asked of us as three items written down every night. That is a lot to keep up. Said out loud, it can be smaller: a meal you liked, someone who was kind, a corner of home you are glad of.
These ten prompts are small on purpose. Answer one in about a minute. If you use a voice journal like Dearly, it writes the page for you while you talk.
What are easy gratitude prompts to say out loud?
Small ones: a meal you liked, someone who was kind, a corner of home you are glad of. Take any one and answer for a minute.
- What went better than I expected today?
- Who did something kind for me lately?
- What did I eat or drink today that I really enjoyed?
- What part of my home am I glad to have?
- Who am I glad to have in my life, and why?
- What do I use every day and rarely think about?
- What made me smile this week?
- What am I enjoying about this time of year?
- What was hard but turned out okay?
- What do I want to say thank you for before the day ends?
How do you use these prompts?
- Keep it small. A cup of tea counts. So does the bus arriving on time.
- Name the person. Saying who and why feels different from thinking it.
- Skip a day when you want to. Nothing here has to be kept up.
- Say the hard one too. “What was hard but turned out okay” is allowed to sound a little tired.
